About Us

At Thirty-Six Meeting you will experience the intimacy of being a resident in the most exclusive part of Charleston’s Historic Residential District. Built in 1740, this Pre-Revolutionary War home offers three elegant suites. Each suite has its own private entrance and is elegantly furnished with antiques, oriental rugs, four poster mahogany rice beds, kitchenette, private bath, central heat and air conditioning, television and telephone.

According to legend, Thirty-Six Meeting was the site of the First Christmas Tree in Charleston. The Tradition began with Hessian soldiers quartered in the house in 1780-81.

Guests enjoy the significant Georgian woodwork which can be seen in the main house on request. The old kitchen suite with its 1740 Beehive oven and hand carved woodwork is a popular guest room, or the second floor Carriage House suite with balconies overlooking the garden. Up spiral stairs is a one bedroom suite overlooking neighboring gardens and Charleston rooftops. The private walled garden makes a perfect place to enjoy breakfast or to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

Smoking is permitted in the garden

Off street parking and bicycles are available for guests.
